Risk Advisory Firm Names New York Head

Treliant Risk Advisors, the Washington-based compliance and strategic advisory firm, has appointed Waldo Abbot as general manager and head of its New York office.

Abbot brings 35 years of global finance and banking experience to the role. Before Treliant, he was the chief executive of BNP Paribas Fortis in New York. He also served as CEO of Fortis Americas before the company was acquired by BNP in 2009. His other previous roles include general manager of Royal Bank of Canada's New York office and managing director of RBC's communication and technology unit. 

At Treliant Abbot will be in charge of boosting the firm's compliance and strategic advisory services which are offered mostly to hedge funds, broker-dealers and international financial firms with operations in the US.

The appointment follows the hire of four advisors in June.
